ESPN rates Kim Hye-sung’s contract with the Dodgers as B+
The predicted performance of Kim Hye-seong (26), who achieved her dream of advancing to the United States by signing with the LA Dodgers, has been released.
According to ESPN, ClayDavenport.com, which predicts MLB performance by converting records from other leagues, predicted that Kim Hye-seong will have a batting average of 0.270, 27 stolen bases, and 9 home runs in the 2025 season, her first year in the big league.
The on-base percentage is expected to be 0.337 and the slugging percentage is expected to be 0.386.
Kim Hye-seong, who sought to enter the MLB through the posting system, signed a 3+2 year contract with the Dodgers for up to $22 million (approximately 32 billion won) three hours before the negotiation deadline on the 4th. The guarantee is 3 years and $12.5 million.
ESPN rated Hye-Sung Kim’s contract with the Dodgers at B+.
ESPN introduced, “Kim Hye-sung is a different player from Kim Ha-seong, who played for the San Diego Padres until last year and became a free agent,” and said, “Kim Hye-sung’s defense and base running abilities are similar to Kim Ha-seong, but his power is somewhat weaker.”
ESPN said that Hye-Sung Kim was expected to sign a three-year, $16.5 million contract, and that the Dodgers succeeded in signing her at a relatively low price.
ESPN said, “Kim Hye-sung’s defense is probably not at the level of Kim Ha-seong, who won the Gold Glove. “Still, he is of a high enough level and versatile,” he said, adding, “His focus is also good. “If the damage is sustained, it will be able to play a role beyond utility,” he predicted.
ESPN, which introduced the fact that Kim Hye-seong played with Lee Jung-hoo for the Kiwoom Heroes, said, “From 2019 to 2023, Lee Jung-hoo recorded a batting average of 0.340, 57 home runs, and 46 stolen bases. He added, “Kim Hye-seong had a batting average of 0.306, 21 home runs, and 150 stolen bases.”
Meanwhile, Kim Hye-seong, who went to the United States on November 29th of last year and trained there and participated in the negotiation process, temporarily returned to Korea on the 23rd of last month because it was difficult to stay abroad for a long period of time due to special military service exemption as an arts and sports personnel. Kim Hye-seong, who has completed her contract, is currently preparing to leave the United States.
