US Air Force General Alexus Grinkevich says Iran is not currently interested in taking military action against Israel, the US or anyone else. However, he acknowledges that the situation may change with the start of Israel’s operation in Rafah.

As a result of the April 2 attack on a residence near the Iranian embassy in Syria, the CIA warned Israel of a possible attack by Iranian forces within 48 hours. General Alexus Grinkevich expressed confidence that Iran, despite the support of its supporters in the Middle East, is not currently seeking larger military action.
“I continue to believe that the Iranians are not interested in a broader regional conflict. They want to take advantage of the crisis that exists, but they are not seeking a military confrontation with Israel, the United States or anyone else at the moment,” he said.
The general noted that recent events require the military to be on alert, as Iran promised to respond and accused the United States of complicity. Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh says the U.S. was “not involved at all” in the compound attack that allegedly killed seven IRGC officers and that the U.S. had no knowledge of specific Israeli military operations.
However, according to Grinkevich, it is possible that an event will occur that will provoke a further escalation of tensions in the Middle East, such as Israel’s promised operation in Rafah.
The Air Force general stressed that he was not aware of the details of Israel’s plans for Rafah, and that Washington “is not conducting any specific consultations on the ground or assisting the Israeli military with targeting or anything like that.”
However, according to Grinkevich, if Iran retaliates against US interests in the region – directly or through its proxies – it will disrupt the fragile structure in which US assets have not been attacked by Iranian proxies since the death of three US soldiers in a drone strike in Jordan at the end of January.
