After the Sinaloa Prosecutor’s Office released a video showing the alleged attack that could have led to the death of elected representative Héctor Melecio Cuen Ojeda at a gas station in Culiacán, Sinaloa, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic issued a statement in which it reported various discrepancies.

The FGR reported that it received a certified copy of the local Sinaloa investigation folder, information that was analyzed by experts and analysts from the AIC-FGR, who determined the following elements:

The first consequence was that the autopsy did not accurately establish the immediate characteristics of the corpse, such as temperature, thanatological signs, luster, nor the exact details and development of the body.

Similarly, Hector Melecio’s body had severe head injuries, while the body had been shot four times in the legs.

That is why, explains the FGR, The four bullet wounds in the lower back do not match what was heard in the video Submitted by Sinaloa authorities, as only one gunshot sound is heard in it.

Another anomaly that FGR indicates is The three employees at the gas station did not report hearing gunfire. And furthermore, the physical identification of the occupants of the van has not been properly established.

In addition, there is no factual mechanics of the incident, no criminal action was committed at the scene or in the vehicle; meanwhile, there were human blood stains on the truck bed but there is no expert report or determination in this regard.

The FGR indicated that measures to preserve the body were not followed by all relevant officials, allowing the cremation to take place, which is contrary to the protocols that should be followed when investigating homicides.
