The set of measures proposed by the Government that now reaches Parliament has been the subject of strong debate and discussion
SIM In Portugal there is a shortage of houses to live in, and the Government’s package of measures acts to increase the supply of houses, but above all to respond to the main objective that seems to escape the understanding of the right: the State is called upon to play a more relevant role in guaranteeing the access to housing compatible with people’s income.
Solving the housing crisis means waging a relentless fight on many fronts, which is why the increase in affordable rental housing is one of the main axes in the package of measures. But also greater regulation of the rental market, to curb the exponential growth in rents that is driving people out of cities and their communities, as well as causing their impoverishment, without forgetting the fight against speculation.
