Kozhikode: Police have registered a case against the locals who rescued a young woman from the bite of a pet dog at Ambayathottil. The action is based on a complaint by Roshanta, the owner of the dogs. The locals lodged a complaint with the Thamarassery DySP demanding strong action against Roshan. On Sunday morning, Roshanta’s three pet dogs surrounded and bit Fauzia, a resident of Surplus. The fleeing natives worked hard to save Fauzia from the dogs’ mouths. Meanwhile, Roshanta complained that people were being harassed. The Thamarassery police have registered a case against 20 people. Meanwhile, locals said Roshan, who reached the spot while trying to save himself, threw his sword and threatened him with a gun.

Many have been bitten by the same dogs before. Locals say women and children are even afraid to go out as the dogs are regularly released. Roshan was arrested by the police for creating an atmosphere of terror but was released on bail by the station on the charge of trivialities. If no action is taken, the locals will march to the police station, according to a complaint lodged with the DYSP.
