Doha: Moroccans and foreigners explore the wealth of Moroccan Berber jewelry

As part of the “Years of Culture Qatar-Morocco 2024”, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Qatar, the exhibition allowed the public to admire this unique collection which highlights works of jewelry art that represent the various regions of Morocco, thus reflecting the richness of Morocco as a crossroads of several civilizations and cultures.

In addition to exploring the richness of this cultural legacy, the audience was treated to musical performances presented by a popular Moroccan group that performed songs from the Gnawa genre, as well as an eclectic selection from Moroccan folklore.

The evening was also an opportunity for women to benefit from henna tattoo sessions. For his part, Moroccan painter Othmane Belkadi unveiled a painting representing an Amazigh woman adorned with jewelry and jewels.

The Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024 was opened recently with a special exhibition of Berber jewelry from the Royal Palace at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, consisting of 200 pieces of historical and cultural significance, representing the various regions and ethnic groups of Morocco, from the Atlas Mountains to the southern provinces.

Exhibited for the first time outside the Kingdom, this collection from the Royal Palace represents a unique window on Moroccan culture.

Open to the public until May 20, 2024, this collection of silver jewelry, which constitutes an important part of the permanent exhibition of the Oudayas of Morocco belonging to the National Museum of Jewelry in Rabat, pays tribute to the artisans who meticulously crafted these exceptional pieces and, in particular, to the women who preserved these traditions.
