The Municipal Works Directorate (DOM) began the well drilling project, which will benefit some 1,800 inhabitants of the municipality of Teotepeque, department of La Libertad, to supply them with drinking water in their homes.

The hydrogeological and environmental impact studies determined the total depth of the work to be 350 meters, a diameter of 14 and a half inches and a casing diameter of 10 inches.

With this project, the central government will benefit the inhabitants of the El Ángel canton, such as the Venezuela, Santa Clara, Miramar, Tablote, El Centro, Crucitas and El Triunfo hamlets, the DOM detailed.

In this phase, the impelling line and distribution networks will be designed, in addition to equipping the drilled well and, in addition, a storage tank with characteristics suitable for the communities will be built.

For this distribution, there will be submersible pumping equipment to a cistern and other submersible equipment will be installed with the capacity to conduct the flow and overcome the dynamic load needed towards the storage tank.

It will also contain a shed where control cabinets powered by an electrical substation will be installed. A hypochlorinator will be placed at the entrance to the cistern to treat the water through disinfection.

To date, the DOM has at least 20 well drilling projects in San José Cancasque, Chalatenango; San Bartolomé Perulapía, in Cuscatlán; Sacacoyo, in La Libertad, Jocoro and Cacaopera, in Morazán; El Porvenir, Santa Rosa Guachipilín, Santiago De La Frontera, Texistepeque and Masahuat, in Santa Ana, to mention a few.
