Domestic apparel trade as compared to exports

by time news
Tirupur: “The domestic garment trade will soon catch up with Tirupur’s knitwear exports,” said Iswaran, President of the South Indian Knitwear Manufacturers Association (SYMA). Tirupur-Kangayam Road, Toplight Complex, ‘Nitsho’ exhibition is going on. Representatives of the knitwear industry participated in the opening ceremony held yesterday.

After visiting the exhibition, they commented: Iswaran, President of South Indian Banyan Manufacturers Association (SAIMA): Our country is the second most populous country in the world. Interest in wearing new types of clothing is prevailing among people. Hence, the demand for domestic ready-made garments is increasing. Tirupur’s knitwear export business has crossed 35 thousand crore rupees. Within the next ten years, the domestic garment trade will catch up with exports. ‘Nitma’ President Rathnaswamy: The rise in cotton prices is seriously affecting the textile industry. Multinational companies buy cotton, stockpile it and raise the price. Minimum source price for cotton should be raised.

When the farmers do not get the right price, the Cotton Corporation of India should purchase cotton.Kandhirajan, President of the Dye Mill Owners’ Association: Kudos for successfully conducting the ‘Nitsho’ exhibition for 20 years. In the early days, 15 liters of water was used to dye one kilogram of cloth. With the advent of advanced technologies, now three liters of water can be used to dye one kilogram of cloth. Exhibitions like ‘Nitshow’ help the industrialists of Tirupur to discover the latest trends. Under the ‘A-DUB’ project, a production oriented investment scheme known as PLI is being introduced. In this scheme, if 25 per cent subsidy is given for the machine investments of the garment manufacturing companies, the industry will grow further. ‘Techba’ Chairman Srikanth: Printing on the garments adds value.

Tirupur printing companies have always pioneered the printing industry by identifying and installing the most advanced technologies that are introduced internationally.

This shows the growth of the printing sector. In the last ten years, Tirupur companies have imported a lot of printing machines in the hope of getting subsidy under the Technology Development Fund Scheme (DDP). As the concession amount has not been released, the printing sector is suffering from financial burden. It is necessary to get government benefits without delay.
