## Dominic Lobalu Recalled to 5000 m Final After Fall in Heats
Published on 07.08.2024
Dominic Lobalu experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during the Olympic 5000 m heats. Initially eliminated after a fall in the final straight, the European 10,000 m champion was ultimately recalled.
“It’s a horrible feeling,” he admitted after the race to the RTS microphone, as he is running for the refugee team at the Olympics due to not having a Swiss passport. ”A French runner shifted and I caught his foot. Everything happened so quickly.”
The top eight from this race automatically secured their spots in the final. However, four athletes were given a recall, including the runner from LC Brühl. Lobalu will therefore be allowed to participate in the final, which takes place on Saturday evening at 7:50 PM.
In the other heat, meanwhile, things didn’t go well for Jonas Raess. The 30-year-old from Zurich finished 12th in his race with a time of 13’55”04. Only the top eight qualified, and the 8th place finisher crossed the line in 13’52”62.
