The Community Social Movement continues to bring hope to Salvadorans in vulnerable conditions. Today, Doña Conchita, 79 years old, is fulfilling her dream of having a new home, since for decades, she lived in a small hut made of sheets, where she endured the heat and the rain.
One of the founders of this movement, Minister Rolando Castro, said that Conchita asked the Community Social Movement to donate a dozen new sheets of roofing material; however, due to the support of hundreds of volunteers and some altruistic friends, they decided to build her a decent house.
“Doña Conchita’s example could be that of hundreds or thousands of families who also need this type of help… and it is most likely that we will not be able to help everyone, but we will continue to be supportive and help many more people in this way,” she said.
He reiterated that, as a Community Social Movement, this house is just the beginning, “we will continue working to continue bringing help to the people who need it most. It is not worth coming into this world without changing the life of a person or a family,” he added.
