As a foretaste of the opening of the sewage treatment plant as part of the city’s anniversary
we invite on Sunday the 15.01. between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to a donation event at the sewage treatment plant:
The portal door will be ceremoniously removed for the subsequent restoration and we will collect donations from visitors this afternoon in order to be able to remove the graffiti on the main portal.
We are currently removing concrete to reveal the 1909 stock. This and a wealth of other monument repairs in the sewage treatment hall will run until the end of 2025 and are funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the Ministry for Homeland, Municipal Affairs, Building and Digitization of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
We have orchestrated the steps of the repairs in such a way that for our city anniversary in September and October the sewage treatment plant can be used as an event location, in conjunction with the House of Silk Culture, for exhibitions, concerts and also critical discussion rounds.
Because for us, the two Krefeld locations on the European Route of Industrial Culture http://www.erih.net, it is very important to show what could be done in Krefeld and what can still be done today.
At our city anniversary events, in addition to “water”
and a leading exhibition, a wide range of concerts take place, well-known Krefeld artists exhibit and present their works in the sewage treatment plant. For the first time, visitors from near and far can experience the sewage treatment plant as one of the most outstanding event locations in the country.
