In the week before the Thanksgiving services, almost all communities in the Twiste-Eisenberg church district call for food donations for the food banks in Korbach and Bad Arolsen. “As a church, we want to support the food banks again this year as much as we can,” says Dean Eva Brinke-Kriebel.
Korbach – In many parishes it has long been a tradition to collect for the tables and at least to bring the offerings from the Thanksgiving altar, and in many places also additional food. The situation in the food banks remains difficult; the war in Ukraine with many refugees and increased living costs have worsened the donation situation – but at the same time the need has increased.
That’s why the Protestant parishes want to help out at Thanksgiving and support the food banks in the church district. Long-life foods such as rice, pasta, flour or sugar are primarily used. But also canned goods with fruit, fish or sausage, jam, often homemade, to help provide for people with low incomes.
Food for the food banks in the parishes of the Twiste-Eisenberg church district can be dropped off at the following times: Adorf: on October 1st, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the church; Höringhausen: September 24th to October 1st, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the community center; Meineringhausen: September 24th to October 3rd, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the community center; Eppe: September 30th to October 15th in the Evangelical Church; Flechtdorf: September 29th to October 4th, daily 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the community center; Immighausen: October 9th to 15th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the church; Korbach: Johanneskirche: for the service on September 24th, 9:30 a.m., on September 26th, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Johannesstübchen; St. Mark’s Church: for the service on October 1st, 9:30 a.m. and from September 25th to 29th, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Community Center; Kilianskirche: for the service on October 1st, 10:30 a.m., open air on Moersstrasse, from September 25th to 30th, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the community center. St. Nicholas Church: for the service on October 1st, 10:45 a.m.; Lengefeld: for the service on September 24th, 10:45 a.m.; Lelbach: for the service on October 1st, 9:30 a.m.; Nieder-Ense: October 2nd to 8th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the church; Nieder-Schleidern: September 30th to October 3rd, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the St. Ursula Chapel; Upland Association: The week before the Thanksgiving service in the respective churches.
The current dates for the church services are below kirche-rhena-eimelrod.de. Donations can also be brought directly to church services on Sunday. A container is available there.
