Bad Münstereifel (hs). The children were particularly important to Elmar Gehlen after the flood disaster. The actor, who became known primarily for his role as the engineer Wolfgang Unterbaur in the ZDF series “Küstenwache” and is the father of actress Johanna Christine Gehlen and father-in-law of actor Sebastian Bezzel (“Tatort” inspector Kai Perlmann). grew up in Bad Münstereifel, among other places. Today he lives in Neustadt (Holstein). When he found out about the flood disaster, he collected donations from his golf friends. 8,800 euros came together. The money was ultimately donated to the day-care centers and schools affected by the flood.

The trained graphic artist Elmar Gehlen also wanted to give the children something personal and encouraging. The actor, who also works in sculpture and painting, created two child-friendly images of an elephant filling a bucket of water with its trunk and wearing a warning light strapped to its head. During a recent visit to Bad Münstereifel, he personally delivered one of the pictures to the “Magische 12” day-care center run by the Child Protection Association. He presented the other picture to Mayor Sabine Preiser-Marian in the town hall. It will be hanging in the Kirspenich day care center in the future.
