Actor Heinz Hoenig not only has a health problem, but also a financial one. The costs for his hospital stay are exploding.

Actor Heinz Hoenig has been receiving medical treatment for several weeks and has already had to undergo several operations. However, the film star, who is in poor health, does not have health insurance, so his family has to cover the high costs of medical care themselves.

His wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig then launched a fundraising appeal for the 72-year-old, for which she has been repeatedly criticized. Among other things, critics claimed that she had used the donations to buy a car for her daughter. The 39-year-old has always denied these accusations – and is now defending herself against the latest allegations.

After four months, Heinz Hoenig is desperate to be able to leave the hospital. He wants to continue his recovery at home surrounded by his loved ones. Home care is intended to support Annika Kärsten-Hoenig in looking after her in her own home – and is now making new headlines.

“With the help of donations? Wife wants to bring Heinz Hoenig home,” reads a press report. “Headlines like these are exactly what encourage unrest, hatred and bullying! Before you speculate about our future, please ask us personally. Then we will be happy to help find the truth,” Kärsten-Hoenig says angrily in her Instagram story.

In her statement, the mother of three also addresses her financial situation. “The treatment costs so far amount to 400,000 euros (as of the end of June). Anyone who paid attention in math can work out the difference to the donations received,” said the actor’s wife. Over 178,000 euros have been collected on the GoFundMe platform so far – a large part of the bills remain open.

Health insurance is now supposed to help Heinz Hoenig. “We assume that Heinz will have health insurance until his (provisional) release. In his ‘case’ it is more than complex, which our lawyer (who we trust completely!) and we will be happy to inform the public about once it is completed,” explains Annika Kärsten-Hoenig.

The 39-year-old described the problem to “stern TV” in mid-May. Heinz Hoenig was kicked out of private health insurance at a time when things weren’t going so well for him financially. His partner only found out about it in 2021. Since then, she has been trying everything to get him insured again – but “we are rejected, rejected, rejected”.
