Gladbeck (NRW) – Poor Max (†7), you were so brave. Now the boy from Gladbeck has lost the fight against leukemia.
Max’s fate touched many people. In September 2022, doctors diagnosed him with leukemia. It was clear: only a stem cell donation could have helped him. An intense search began. A donor was actually found in February 2023.
But then the setback: This donor was suddenly no longer available. Also a second donor. According to the DKMS, the reasons for this can be varied: for example, an illness that the donor has developed in the meantime, pregnancy or a longer stay abroad.
During this time, the aggressive blood cancer progressed so far that Max no longer had a chance. In April, his mother Anna Beutler (39) and his brothers Leonard (10) and Niclas (8) fulfilled his last big wish with donations: they visited Disneyland Paris together.
