Lawyers from Coimbatore have sent a notice to the film crew not to advertise ‘Ponniin Selvan’ as ‘PS-1’.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’, a novel written by Amarar Kalki, has been directed into a film by director Mani Ratnam of the same name. The first part of the film is releasing tomorrow in five languages across the world.
Since then the work of this film has started, the first part of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ has been revealed by ‘P.S. The production company Lyca and the film crew are promoting the film as -1’. In this case, the name of the film is ‘B.S. Lawyers N.Sundaravadivelu and M.Loganathan from Coimbatore race course area have sent a notice stating that ‘-1’ should not be advertised.
It has been said that Arulmozhivarman, who was on a boat with his parents, was saved by a woman when he fell into the Ponni river, and that the Ponni river itself saved him, thus giving him the name ‘Ponni’s Wealth’, and the novel was named after the same.
But ‘Ponniin Selvan’ was named ‘P.S.’ It is wrong to abbreviate as ‘P.S.’ is the term used to refer to the Christian Union in European countries, and the historical story title ‘B.S.’ They fear that shortening it will be like referring to a religious war.
This notice has been sent to producer Subhashkaran, director Mani Ratnam, actor Vikram and distributor Red Giant Movies. And the film crew should accept this and use it as ‘Ponni’s Selvan’ and the lawyers from Coimbatore have jointly announced that they are going to take the next step depending on the action taken by them.
