The court has allowed Malayalam actor Dileep to spend three days in police custody in a case of plotting to assassinate police officers.

Balachandra Kumar, a friend and director of actor Dileep, who was accused of sexually harassing a popular actress in Malayalam and Tamil films in 2017, has changed the course of the case.

Balachandra Kumar said, “After his release on bail, Dileep held a private consultation to avenge the police officers who arrested him. I was at their house when this consultation took place. I also have audio of what they said. I am ready to come anywhere and tell information about Dileep.”

Based on this talk, the Kerala Crime Branch police registered an FIR against actor Dileep. Dileep is the first accused in the FIR, his brother Anoop is the second accused, Dileep’s brother – in – law Kavya Madhavan’s brother Suraj is the third accused in the FIR and three others. Dileep was expected to be arrested following the FIR, but escaped from custody as he was granted pre-bail in court.

On January 19, the Kerala Criminal Police, which is probing the new case, filed a 68-page affidavit in court vehemently challenging Dilip’s pre-bail. In addition, the court was told that permission should be granted to interrogate Dilip. The case was taken up before Kerala High Court Judge Gopinath. At the time, Judge Gopinath had issued a stern warning to Dilip.

Judge Gopinath Dilip’s lawyer Raman Pillai said, “Any attempt to interfere in the course of the trial will be taken very seriously by this court. Any attempt to disrupt the trial will lead to cancellation of the accused’s bail. Tell your client about this. Be different.Don’t try to do anything unnecessary.Don’t even think to try to do so.

The prosecution has submitted documents in a sealed envelope in connection with the plot to assassinate the investigating officers. These documents underscore the need for Dilip to conduct further investigations. The court was not prepared to release the evidence provided by the prosecution. The allegations against Dilip are serious. The government has the right to investigate them. It is a matter of concern that if Dileep is released on bail, the trial will not go smoothly.

Therefore, permission is granted to interrogate five people, including actor Dilip, for three days in connection with the alleged conspiracy to kill the officers. Dileep is scheduled to appear before the police on January 23, 24 and 25 from 9 am to 8 pm. Similarly, the court imposes an interim injunction to arrest Dilip till January 27, ”he said in his order.
