Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police warns against engaging in other distracting activities while stopping at traffic signals on the roads. In an awareness message released by the police through social media, it is said that by showing carelessness, there is a possibility of accidentally crossing the red signal and thereby causing major accidents on the road.

Police have released an animated video on social media depicting a driver who runs a signal due to negligence. In the video, a driver stops the vehicle after seeing a red signal on the road. But this time, the video shows that he is answering a call on his phone and due to this, the vehicle is moving ahead due to the distraction from the road. A car that moves ahead without changing the red signal, collides with another vehicle and causes an accident.

Running a red signal on the roads in Abu Dhabi is an offense that can attract a fine of up to AED 1000 and the driver will receive 12 black points. And the vehicle will be impounded. The authorities will detain the vehicle for 30 days to three months. A fine of 50,000 dirhams has to be paid to release the vehicle later. Officials remind that if the vehicle is not recovered after three months, it will be auctioned.
