jpnn.com – JAKARTA – The DPR RI Council of Honor (MKD) is reminded not to interfere with the immunity rights of legislative members in voicing their aspirations critically.
This warning was voiced by PDI Perjuangan politician and Deputy Chair of Commission II DPR RI Aria Bima, following recent political developments.
“If this is the way to convey critical things, then the MKD will intervene in the immunity rights of council members, that’s not possible. I believe the MKD will not be talkative and then every member of the DPR will be summoned,” said Aria Bima at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (30 /12).
Aria Bima expressed her views in response to the DPR RI MKD’s plan to summon DPR RI Commission VI member Rieke Diah Pitaloka regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics for her statements that appeared on social media.
In the video clip, Rieke issues a statement rejecting the increase in value added tax (VAT) to 12 percent. Some people considered this statement provocative, so Rieke then complained to the MKD.
“I protest that, MKD should not be slow in responding to things raised by council members, MKD might be disbanded,” he said.
He said that the DPR RI MKD should place itself in the duties, portion and authority of maintaining the honor of the DPR as a people’s representative institution.
“This council has two respects, institutional decisions and also the behavior of council members,” he said.
Aria Bima reminded MKD not to position itself like a police agency that can summon just because there is a complaint.
