Nikos Kamarianos shared his opinion on the away match of Kolossos against Aris for the 4th matchday of the Top 6 of the Basket League. The Greek forward spoke about the game and stressed that his team will need concentration throughout the match to claim victory. In detail, what he said: “We are playing in a difficult stadium and we are facing a very competitive team, such as Ares. From the beginning of the match, we will have to give 100% and stay focused for the entire 40 minutes of the game, so that we will be able to claim the pink card.”
THE REFEREES OF THE MATCH
The international Giorgos Poursanidis from Thessaloniki, Giorgos Theonas from Athens and Nikos Skandalakis from Crete will “whistle” the Ares-Kolossos game, which will be held on Saturday at 17:15, at “Alexandreio”. The “black and yellow” return to their stadium for the first time after the game of the last game of the regular season against Lavrio. Kolossos entered the Top 6 with three defeats against Peristeri away, Panathinaikos at home and Prometheus away. THE PREHISTORY
Colossus’ nine-game home-and-away streak from the 2018-19 second-round game through last season gave them a double-digit lead over Aris, which closed the gap through this season’s regular season. There is now absolute balance in Thessaloniki’s games, while in recent years the two teams have created a tradition of “closed” games. Five of the last six were decided by margins of two to seven points. The only exception was the game of the 2020-21 season in which the Colossus prevailed 84-74.
THE TWO VICTORIES OF MARS
What happened in the regular season: Aris ended the Colossus’ nine-game winning streak, going 2/2 in the regular season. It’s something he did three more times, most recently in the 2012-13 season. So on November 4, the “yellow and black” passed Rhodes 88-78, having Chris Bankston (21p, 8/10d, 6r) and Roberto Gallinat (19p, 4/6r) on a very good day. For the hosts, the leader was Andrew Goudlock (22p, 4/5b, 6/10d, 2/2tr).
