Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore spoke at a drug addiction recovery program held in Lambua Assembly constituency of Uttar Pradesh:-
My son Akash Kishore got addicted to alcohol by his friends. So we admitted him to a drug addiction recovery center. We got married 6 months later assuming he had recovered from that habit. But after marriage he started drinking again. That is why he died. My grandson was not even 2 years old when he died 2 years ago.
‘The life of an alcoholic is very short. Me being an MP and my wife being an MLA could not save our son. When that is the case, how can a common man save his child? My daughter-in-law became a widow because I failed to save my son.
Please ensure that your daughters and sisters do not get this condition. Do not marry the women of your house to drunkards. A non-drinking rickshaw puller or laborer is a better groom than an officer with a drinking habit.
Only 6.32 lakh people died in the 90 years of struggle against the British rule in our country. But 20 lakh people die every year due to drug addiction. Therefore, awareness should be created during school morning prayers about the effects of drug addiction.
