Doosan Group stock prices are continuing to fall after the company withdrew its plan to merge Doosan Robotics and Doosan Bobcat through a comprehensive stock swap.
According to the Korea Exchange, as of 9:18 am on the 2nd, Doosan (000150) is trading at 143,400 won, down 6,100 won (4.08%) from the previous day.
In addition, Doosan Bobcat (241560) (-2.14%), Doosan Robotics (454910) (-2.27%), and Doosan Energy (034020) (-0.66%) are continuing their downward trend.
Earlier, Doosan Robotics and Doosan Bobcat held board meetings the previous day and decided to terminate the comprehensive stock exchange agreement between the two companies.
Doosan Robotics announced, “Even if there are synergies through a comprehensive stock exchange, we decided that it would be appropriate not to pursue it at this point.”
The intention is not to incorporate Doosan Bobcat by delisting it. However, Doosan Group is taking the position that it will continue to pursue the plan to incorporate Doosan Bobcat as a subsidiary of Doosan Robotics.
Despite the withdrawal of the merger, the continued decline in related stocks is likely to be due to the selling volume for stock purchase rights.
Han Young-soo, a researcher at Samsung Securities, analyzed, “Even after the withdrawal of the stock exchange plan between Doosan Bobcat and Doosan Robotics, the stock price continued to fall, which may have included selling by shareholders exercising their stock purchase rights.”
A researcher said, “There is still insufficient evidence to permanently rule out the possibility that Doosan Group will utilize Doosan Bobcat as an asset in the future,” and “From the perspective of long-term investors, it is a kind of uncertainty, so it is necessary to wait for the group’s official communication in the future.” Accordingly, he presented an investment opinion of ‘neutral.’
