The coach praised the group’s competitiveness throughout the season.
“Our campaign, after winning the Copa do Brasil, was much better than before, because we played three competitions. Today São Paulo played a very good match, as they did throughout the championship. There were rare moments when we didn’t have control of the game, we didn’t create good opportunities, as happened again today. It’s a shame that we left here with a different result than we imagined. Luciano regretted the wasted chance, but highlighted the team’s good performance.
“It was a difficult defeat. We created more, everyone saw that. I myself had a clear chance and I wasted it. Then I ended up scoring the goal. It’s a slightly unfair defeat. If we had paid more attention, we would have won. We should have been more careful with the conclusions of the plays”, said the number 10.
Dorival Júnior also highlighted the good participation in the match of young Talles Wander and William Gomes, both trained at the São Paulo base, at CFA de Cotia, and how they can be used for the next season.
“I believe we cannot speed up the process, but we can provide all the conditions so that the boys can gradually show their capacity and quality. Both entered very well, with personality. They fought, sought results and helped the team. It’s all a matter of time for us to put the pieces together and find a new path for the team to continue evolving and producing. And that, next year, we can carry out an even better campaign”, added the commander.
The coach also planned a great match against the red-black team.
“All games are difficult. It will be no different against Flamengo. We will do our best against a great opponent”, he concluded.
