During the European Championship round of 16 in Dortmund, a stadium climber attracted attention on the roof. A penal order has now been requested.

After a climb through the roof of the stadium during the European Championship round of 16 in Dortmund, the public prosecutor’s office has applied for a fine totaling 1,050 euros against a 21-year-old. The Dortmund public prosecutor’s office confirmed this in response to a request from dpa. The Osnabrück resident is accused of trespassing. A special police task force had rescued him from the roof structure.

After the incident on June 30, the young man told the police that he wanted to take photos from above. He is considered to be part of the so-called roofer scene, in which people climb tall buildings illegally. According to previous information, the accused had already been recorded for similar cases in Herne in April 2022 and in Ulm in May 2024. The current penalty order includes 70 daily rates of 15 euros each. The application is now before the district court.

During the European Championship round of 16 in Dortmund, it was possible to see on television how the referee looked up with the team captains of Germany and Denmark after half-time. It later emerged that the police had already spotted the 21-year-old at that point and had informed the referee. The game therefore continued.

The English newspaper “Daily Mail” had published a long video in which it was seen that the man was masked at times and had a backpack with him. Camera equipment was found in this backpack.
