The World Health Organization has classified depression as the ‘epidemic of the 21st century’. In today’s fast-paced world, employees are increasingly facing stress in their workplace. Stress is the biggest cause of most health problems today.
Globally, 79,774,75,00,00,000 rupees (one trillion dollars) are spent annually on depression and anxiety disorders. Depression and high stress are major causes of lifestyle disorders. It affects one in five. When a young man named ‘Mudith Thandwad’ wanted to do something meaningful with his life, he approached Gaurav Parsani, an IIT student. These two, after many ideas, chose the health sector and embarked on research and developed a health monitoring tool called ‘Dozee’.
Powered by artificial intelligence, ‘Dozzi’, when placed under a patient’s mattress, monitors heart health, breathing, breathing quality and stress levels with 98.4 percent accuracy. The main feature is that it can be placed under 18 inch thick mattresses.
These vibrations are then processed by Dozee’s ‘Artificial Intelligence’ algorithms and converted into health notes accessible through the mobile app. The 450-gram device currently monitors breathing patterns, resting heart rate, resting respiratory rate, heart rate variability, body movements and snoring.
In addition, it also provides early warning of deteriorating health conditions. In any hospital in India, trained technicians are required for patient care. This device greatly reduces the need for assistance from trained professionals (ICU, caregivers).
Available for around Rs 7,500, this device is widely used in hospitals / nursing homes. Those companies use a dashboard called ‘Dozzi’ to help keep track of users.
In India, a total of 378 hospitals with 7,762 beds are using this tool. So far one lakh, 6 thousand 636 patients have been monitored. Due to its use, 2,665 patients have been referred for appropriate further treatment on time.
