The women’s Zurich derby has already attracted a large number of spectators. 7,916 fans watched the 2022 Cup final between the two teams, a national record at the time. Now the FCZ women want to break the current mark from the YB – GC game last October (8923 stayed after the sold-out men’s game YB – FCZ in Wankdorf).
The championship game against GC will take place on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. immediately after the men’s derby, which starts at 6 p.m. If every second match-goer stays seated, the club calculates, the record should be achievable.
Geneva’s CL game against Chelsea attracted crowds
If you also take international games into account, Servette Chênois is clearly ahead. In 2021, 12,782 people watched Geneva’s group game against Chelsea (0:7). Even with the “Magnet Double Derby”, this number is unlikely to be achieved.
In terms of sport, there is a lot to be said for the FCZ women at the start of the new year in the Women’s Super League, who are nine points ahead of sixth-placed GC.
