(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 14 – Despite the collapse in energy prices on international markets, charging electric cars in Italy is increasingly expensive. The complaint comes from Federcarrozzieri, the association of Italian body shops, which analyzed the trend in tariffs over the last year. Depending on the operators who manage the charging stations in the area, the consumer cost of charging goes for example “from 0.60 euros/kWh at the beginning of 2023 to the current 0.65 euros/kWh, with an increase of +8.3%” , or “from 0.56 euros/kWh to 0.65 euros/kWh, with an increase of +16%”, and even “from 0.58 euros/kWh to the current 0.69 euros/kWh, equal to an increase in by +19%”, explains Federcarrozzieri. “Monthly subscriptions and pay-as-you-go packages are rising significantly, with some operators having completely canceled the most convenient offers for motorists”, resulting in increases which in some cases reach, according to the association, +69.4% compared to to 2023. “For weeks we have been receiving protests from motorists who denounce how the costs of charging for electric cars are increasingly higher in Italy – says president Davide Galli – Increases which appear completely unjustified if we consider the trend in energy prices , and which are added to the other increases that are affecting the car sector, from insurance to spare parts”.
