He will sleep in prison. A man was remanded in custody on Friday pending trial for refusing to comply with the request of the gendarmes in Hérimoncourt (Doubs), and “slightly” injured a soldier while fleeing.

On Thursday, the motorist had to be checked by gendarmes who know him for not having a valid license, said the Montbéliard prosecution, confirming initial information from Republican East. The soldiers then invited this 73-year-old man “to stop in a parking lot, which he did not do, continuing on his way”, further specifies the prosecution.

They will have to do it three times before they can block his way. The gendarmes therefore positioned themselves with their vehicle in front of him, but the driver moved towards a soldier. A gendarme then used his weapon, shooting “in the direction of the tire of the vehicle”, but the driver still fled, according to the public prosecutor.

Incarcerated for the first time

The soldier was “slightly injured” after dodging the load of the vehicle. He is also shocked by the behavior of the driver, according to the same source. The septuagenarian was subsequently arrested and placed in police custody for attempted homicide on a person responsible for public order.

The prosecution finally retained the qualification of aggravated refusal to comply and driving despite non-extended license. The man was known to circulate without a driver’s license, according to our colleagues from the regional daily. He had never been incarcerated before.

Indeed, the driver has five convictions on his criminal record, specifies the prosecution. He will be judged Tuesday at 2 p.m., in immediate appearance. In the meantime, the judge of freedoms and detention placed him in a remand center until that date, at the request of the public prosecutor.
