28 workers at Israel Railways announced illness this morning (Thursday). Following this, the Israel Railways announced that the frequency of the Ashkelon – Herzliya line will be reduced from four per hour during peak hours to two per hour. It added: “We are operating it operationally and if there are any further significant changes we will notify.”
As you may recall, in 2019, more than 10 locomotive drivers announced that they would not be able to come to work tomorrow due to illness. The background to the disruptions stemmed from the conflict between the railway management and the workers’ committee regarding the new locomotive dashboard for locomotive drivers, in which each driver will have to drive about 3.5 hours instead of three hours. A year earlier, about 35 drivers had reported a mysterious illness in which they lined up at the same time.
