In the northern Gaza Strip, the Civil Defense announced that it had recovered 3 dead and a number of wounded after Israeli forces targeted the home of the Salman family in Tal al-Zaatar. In the south, a child and a woman were killed as a result of Israeli shelling that targeted the home of the Abu Daqqa family in the town of al-Fakhari, east of Khan Yunis.

The occupation forces bombed a house in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip, that was sheltering displaced people, killing 11 Palestinians and wounding dozens of others, most of them children and women. The bodies of the martyrs arrived at Kamal Adwan Hospital in charred limbs, while others are still under the rubble.

“Six Palestinians were killed and others were injured in an Israeli occupation bombing of a house in the Maghazi camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip, in addition to the killing and injury of others in an Israeli bombing of the Tel al-Zaatar neighborhood in the Jabalia camp in the north of the Gaza Strip and the city of Khan Yunis in the south.”

“The occupation’s air force and artillery launched raids and intensive shelling on the city of Deir al-Balah, the Nuseirat camp in the middle of the Strip, and the Sabra neighborhood in the south of Gaza City, which led to the injury of dozens of Palestinians, most of whom were children and women.”

Yesterday, 53 Palestinians were killed in a series of raids carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on homes, a school, and tents housing displaced people in the central and southern Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll to more than 40,223 dead, and 92,981 wounded.

Mahmoud Abbas issues decree on his visit to the Gaza Strip

In a related context, “Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas signed a decree yesterday, Wednesday, in which he ordered the start of making the necessary arrangements for him and members of the Palestinian leadership to head to the Gaza Strip.”

The decree set several goals for the upcoming visit, including: “stopping the ongoing aggression on the southern governorates, the complete and immediate withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces, and affirming that the State of Palestine has jurisdiction over all of the state’s lands,” “restoring national unity under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, enabling the government to assume its duties effectively in all of the Palestinian state’s lands, especially in the areas of relief and reconstruction,” and “launching a political process that begins with Palestine obtaining full membership in the United Nations and implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the advisory opinion issued by the Supreme Court of Justice.”

The decree stipulated “the formation of a preparatory committee to follow up on the arrangements for heading to the southern governorates with international and regional parties,” in addition to “conducting a national dialogue with all parties to reach a national vision on all important related issues,” and “political, diplomatic, and legal action and mobilizing energies at all Arab, Islamic, and international levels in order to implement the plan approved by the Palestine Liberation Organization.”

Abbas “announced his intention to go to the Gaza Strip with members of the Palestinian leadership during a speech he gave before the Turkish National Assembly last week, where he confirmed that the Palestinian leadership had a plan for the return of refugees and the comprehensive reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.”

In the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that “drone strikes during an Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Tulkarm on Thursday killed three Palestinians, bringing the death toll in the West Bank since the outbreak of the war in Gaza to more than 635 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank.”

In the same context, it was announced in the Jordanian capital, today, Thursday, “the death of the great Palestinian leader Farouk Al-Qadami, known as “Abu Al-Lutf,” at the age of 93.”

His family said, “Abu Al-Lutf, one of the founders of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, died after a long struggle with illness.”

The name of Farouk Kaddoumi, who was known for his opposition to the Oslo Accords, was associated with the presidency of the political department of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which he assumed in 1973. Kaddoumi’s death comes less than two months after the death of his wife, “Nabila al-Nimr – Umm al-Lutf.”

Who is Qudomi?

Farouk Qaddoumi was born in the village of Jinsafut in the Qalqilya Governorate in 1931.

He immigrated with his family to Haifa in 1948 before returning to Nablus again.

He studied elementary school in Jinsafut and high school in Jaffa.

In 1954, he joined the American University in Cairo, where he completed his undergraduate studies in economics and political science.

Al-Qudomi held several positions in several Arab countries. After graduating from the American University, he worked in the Libyan Reconstruction Council, then in the Saudi Ministry of Oil, and then in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health.

At the beginning of his political career, Al-Qaddoumi joined the Arab Socialist Baath Party in the 1940s.

While studying in Egypt, he met Yasser Arafat (Abu Ammar) and Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) and they worked together to establish the Fatah movement in the late fifties with the participation of Khalil al-Wazir (Abu Jihad) and Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).

In 1969, the Fatah movement nominated him for membership in the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and he became head of its political department in 1973.

In 1983, after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, Qaddoumi left Beirut with the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization for Tunisia, according to Sky News.
