The Israeli army announced that it carried out a “precision raid” on Saturday in the Al-Furqan area of Gaza City, and that at least 14 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli raid that targeted a residential unit in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.

The army said in a statement that “the Israeli Air Force launched a precision strike on Hamas militants who were operating inside two military buildings in the Al-Furqan area of Gaza City,” noting that “militants used the military structures to carry out various terrorist activities and to manufacture weapons.”

“The military buildings used by Hamas are located next to an area that was previously used as a school and is now being used as a shelter,” he added, stressing that “the army did not bomb a fuel facility in the area prior to the strike, and that numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and obtaining additional intelligence.”

In the same context, at least 14 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike on Gaza today, Saturday, targeting a residential unit in the Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.

The Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, reported that “two others were killed in Israeli shelling of Gaza City and Jabalia in the north, and three in Al-Mawasi in the south.”

The strikes follow airstrikes earlier this week that hit a tent camp on Tuesday and a UN school housing displaced people on Wednesday.

The war caused widespread destruction, displaced some 90 percent of Gaza’s 2.3 million people, often multiple times, and plunged the region into a severe humanitarian crisis.

The Gaza health ministry says more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began. Women and children make up more than half of the dead. Israel says it has killed more than 17,000 fighters in the war.

This comes as the Israeli authorities released, today, Saturday, 9 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, who were arrested during the ongoing war on the Strip since October 7, 2023.

The occupation forces have arrested more than 10,700 citizens in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, since October 7, 2023, in addition to thousands of citizens from Gaza, and hundreds of Palestinians from 1948.
