The protesters claimed that while their friend was kept in detention, the second suspect was released quickly. The “Leaders of Resistance to the Dictatorship” group called on the police commissioner to order the release of detainees and clarify that the police should protect protesters from violent instigators. The main demonstration will be held in Tel Aviv on Saturday for the 15th week in a row.

About thirty protesters were evacuated this evening (Friday) from the Galilat police station after demonstrating inside it against the arrest of a protester earlier today, according to them. During the event, a confrontation developed between the police forces on the spot and the protesters. The police said that during the evacuation one of the protesters was arrested.

Earlier today, dozens demonstrated in front of the home of billionaire Yitzhak Mirilshvili, the controlling owner of Channel 14. At the end of the demonstration, the police arrested two suspects, apparently following a confrontation between them. The demonstrators claimed that while their friend remained in detention for many hours, the second suspect who was arrested was also released in a short time. According to the demonstrators, about 500 protesters are outside the station.

On behalf of the “Leaders of Resistance to the Dictatorship” it was stated: “We see a new and alarming pattern in the conduct of the Israel Police, which is probably influenced by the words of the TikTok Minister. The role of the police is to protect the demonstrators from those violent instigators and not to protect the attackers. We call on the Commissioner to intervene urgently, to order Releasing the detainees and clarifying to the officers their role – to protect the demonstrators.”

The demonstration in front of Mirilashvili’s house was held alongside a series of demonstrations in the morning and afternoon in front of the homes of politicians from the coalition. At the same time, the organizers of the protest announced that the main demonstration will also be held tomorrow on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv, this is the 15th week in a row. From 18:30 the gathering will begin in the square, in preparation for the weekly march to the demonstration in Kaplan.
