NEW DELHI, January 22, 2026 — Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has secured exclusive broadcasting and livestreaming rights for the DP World Tour across the Indian subcontinent, a deal spanning three seasons from 2026 to 2028. This partnership will deliver comprehensive golf coverage to India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Expanding Golf’s Reach in South Asia

The multi-year agreement brings world-class professional golf to a wider audience across the Indian subcontinent.

  • SPNI gains exclusive television and digital rights for the DP World Tour in the Indian subcontinent from 2026-2028.
  • Coverage will be available on SPNI’s linear sports channels and digital platform, Sony LIV.
  • The deal includes major tournaments like the Hero Indian Open and the DP World India Championship.
  • India is a key growth market for the DP World Tour, with expanding golf infrastructure and rising participation.

The agreement encompasses live coverage, highlights, and related programming across SPNI’s sports channels and its digital platform, Sony LIV. The 2026 DP World Tour season will showcase tournaments in over 20 countries, including five prestigious Rolex Series events, offering consistent content for both broadcasters and sponsors.

What makes this deal significant for Indian golf fans? This partnership ensures consistent, year-round access to elite professional golf, blending significance with broad reach, and bringing fans closer to every DP World Tour event through expansive digital coverage on Sony LIV.

Strategic Alignment for SPNI and the DP World Tour

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head, Sports and International, Sony Pictures Network India, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. “The DP World Tour represents the very best of global professional golf, and this long-term partnership reflects our strategic commitment to building the sport’s ecosystem across India and other regions of the subcontinent. By securing exclusive television and digital rights for three seasons, we are ensuring continuity, scale, deeper fan engagement, and a viewing experience that blends significance with reach. Sony LIV will bring fans closer to every DP World Tour event through expansive digital coverage, while our television platforms will showcase select marquee tournaments and moments that define the season, led by the Hero Indian Open and the DP World India Championship.”

Richard Bunn, Chief Revenue and Content Officer at the DP World Tour, highlighted the Tour’s strong ties with India. “The DP World Tour has long links with India and its leading players, and this expanded last year with the launch of the DP World India Championship. The tournament boasted a stellar field of Ryder Cup stars in its debut outing and now joins the Hero Indian Open on our global schedule. Given India’s importance to the DP World Tour, we’re delighted to agree a new media rights deal that will see Sony Pictures Networks India have exclusive rights to broadcast and livestream our tournaments, as golf’s global Tour travels around the world to 25 countries this season.”

Showcasing Indian Talent on the Global Stage

The partnership will feature coverage from iconic courses and global destinations, spotlighting both established stars and emerging talent. The 2026 season kicks off with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, live on Sony LIV from January 22. Indian fans can also look forward to the Hero Indian Open, scheduled for March 26 to 29, and the DP World India Championship, set for October 15 to 18, both solidifying India’s position on the international golf calendar.

For SPNI, this acquisition aligns with its strategy of investing in premium sports properties that appeal to affluent and urban audiences. While golf may not have mass appeal in India, it consistently attracts valuable advertising from luxury, automotive, financial services, and real estate sectors.

The deal also supports the DP World Tour’s growth ambitions in Asia, recognizing India as a key market due to its expanding golf infrastructure, increasing participation, and growing relevance for global sponsors.

This multi-year agreement reinforces Sony Pictures Networks India’s position in premium sports broadcasting, adding a globally recognized property to its portfolio and providing fans across the subcontinent with consistent access to world-class professional golf.
