jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Central Executive Board of the Islamic Ummah Union (DPP PUI) expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the hard work of the Police and TNI in the efforts to free Susi Air pilot Captain Philip Mark Mehrtens.

This was conveyed by the Secretary General of the PUI DPP, Raizal Arifin, in response to the news of the release of a New Zealand pilot who had been held hostage by an armed criminal group (KKB) for 1.5 years.

Raizal Arifin assessed that the success of Operation Paro and Damai Cartenz formed by the TNI and Polri has proven that this nation is capable of overcoming various challenges and threats that could occur in the country.

“This achievement makes the public feel safer with the positive performance of the TNI and Polri,” said Raizal Arifin in a statement quoted on Sunday (22/9).

The release of Captain Philip Mark Mehrtens was successfully carried out by a joint TNI-Polri team after a long negotiation process.

The team did not take repressive action in the liberation efforts in Yuguru Village, Maibarok District, Nduga Regency, Papua Province.

The PUI Family would like to thank President Joko Widodo, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Agus Subianto, and all parties involved in the long efforts to free the Susi Air Pilot.

Raizal Arifin hopes that peace and a safe situation can soon be created in Papua by creating unity, a harmonious atmosphere, and prosperity for all residents living in Papua.
