jpnn.comJAKARTA – Deputy Chairman of the MPR Hidayat Nur Wahid or HNW appreciates the DPR for accelerating the consultation process and approving the 2024 Pilkada General Election Commission (PKPU) regulations in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).
HNW said that the substance of the PKPU was also in line with what had been decided by the DPR, the Government and the KPU, namely by continuing to follow the last two MK decisions.
First, the Constitutional Court decision number 60/PUU-XXII/2024 relating to the threshold for regional head nominations.
Second, the Constitutional Court decision number 70/PUU-XXII/2024 concerns the age limit for regional head candidates.
“Alhamdulillah, the consultation went quickly and smoothly, as part of the procedures regulated in the laws and regulations. In terms of substance, the DPR approved the KPU regulation which is in line with the Constitutional Court’s decision and in accordance with the aspirations conveyed by students and the community in the last few days,” said HNW in a written statement, Monday (26/8).
The senior PKS politician hopes that with the approval and stipulation of the PKPU, all stages of the regional election implementation can run smoothly and according to the previously determined schedule.
“These stages must be carried out consistently and consequently so that the regional elections can run well and smoothly,” he said.
HNW said that the simultaneous regional elections, which were being held for the first time in Indonesia, had to be implemented with the principles of general elections as regulated in the constitution, especially in Article 22E paragraph (1) of the 1945 NRI Constitution, namely the principles of direct, general, free, secret, honest and fair (luber jurdil).
