jpnn.comJAKARTA – Naturalization of players from abroad is still a mainstay in developing the Indonesian national football team.

It is feared that this coaching model will kill the potential of local players if carried out continuously and over a long period of time.

“We ask PSSI as the Indonesian football federation to set a deadline for using the naturalization method to achieve our national football achievements. “Don’t let this model be used in the long term so that it kills the future of our local players,” said Chairman of Commission X DPR RI Syaiful Huda, Wednesday (13/3/2024).

For your information, currently PSSI continues to increase the strength of the Indonesian national football team with naturalized players.

Most recently, three Dutch players, namely Ragnar Oratmangoen, Nathan Tjoet A-Oen and Tom Haye, are preparing to take the oath as Indonesian citizens.

Even Nathan Tjoet A-Oen’s oath-taking process was carried out at the West Jakarta Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Tuesday (11/3/2024) evening.

Huda said that naturalization of players is a common thing in the world of football. It’s just that this cannot continue to be done without being accompanied by seriousness in developing local players from an early age.

“If we want to open the data, currently there are more than 40 naturalized players in Indonesia. “They were previously given Indonesian citizen status because they were seen as having contributed to the achievements of Indonesian football,” said Huda.
