Soppeng DPRD Chairman Under Investigation Following Alleged Assault & Questions Over Wealth
A probe is underway following accusations that Andi Muhammad Farid, Chairman of the Soppeng Regency DPRD, assaulted a local government official. The incident has sparked public scrutiny, leading to a review of Farid’s reported assets and raising questions about potential conflicts of interest within the South Sulawesi administration.
The allegations surfaced after Rusman, Head of the Soppeng BKPSDM Procurement, Dismissal and Personnel Facts Division, reported being threatened and physically assaulted by Farid on Tuesday, December 24, 2025, at the BKPSDM office.According to Rusman’s account, the confrontation stemmed from questioning the placement of an individual named Abidin as a part-time PPPK employee.
Rusman alleges that Farid, accompanied by Abidin, became “emotional” after being informed that Abidin’s placement had been technically approved by the South Sulawesi Province BKPSDM. He claims Farid then threw a chair and kicked him twice in the stomach before leaving the office. Rusman formally reported the incident to the Soppeng Police on Sunday, December 28.
Local authorities have confirmed the report. “The information has been (reported),” stated Soppeng Police Chief AKBP Aditya Pradana on Thursday, January 1, 2026.”Though, it is indeed still being investigated as the point is we still want to create a safe and peaceful Soppeng.” A video circulating online, lasting two minutes and nine seconds, appears to corroborate Rusman’s account of the incident.
Adding another layer to the controversy, a recent review of andi Muhammad Farid’s financial disclosures reveals significant assets. According to the State Administrator’s Wealth Report (LHKPN), submitted on January 14, 2025, Farid possesses a net worth of IDR 3,493,289,658 (approximately IDR 3.4 billion). The report details ownership of two vehicles: a 2021 Suzuki Pick Up valued at IDR 95 million, acquired through personal funds, and a 2022 Mitsubishi Jeep, valued at IDR 465 million, with an unspecified source of funding.
the discrepancy in the reported source of funds for the Mitsubishi jeep is likely to draw further attention. No other motorized vehicles are listed in Farid’s disclosure.
Farid’s legal counsel,Saldin Hidayat, has denied allegations of violence, acknowledging that his client did kick Rusman, but claiming the kicks did not make contact. “The first kick was said to be empty, no object or person was hit by the kick,” Hidayat explained. “The second kick was said to have hit a chair or moved a wheeled chair which then moved, but still did not hit rusman.”
Hidayat further suggested the core issue lies not in alleged violence, but in “oddities in the administration of Part-Time PPPK placements which change without explanation,” leading to a conflict fueled by perceived bureaucratic failings. Farid, according to his attorney, is prepared to cooperate fully with the police inv
