jpnn.comJAKARTA – This year Jakarta celebrates its 497th anniversary, quite an old age for a metropolitan city. There are various problems that are being resolved by the Jakarta Provincial Government, one of which is the provision of clean water services.

Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, clean water coverage in Jakarta as of April 2024 had only reached 69 percent.

There are many things that need to be fixed immediately so that clean water service coverage can reach 100 percent by 2030, including the problem of pipe networks for clean water.

Deputy Chairman of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rasyidi, assessed that this problem is a serious challenge for the provincial government.

“Currently, none of the PDAMs throughout Indonesia have achieved 100 percent coverage,” said Rasyidi.

This situation makes the urgency of achieving 100 percent clean water service coverage in Jakarta even greater.

Meanwhile, the clean water network piping program of up to 100 percent in the Jakarta area is not only aimed at meeting the water needs of the population.

Moreover, the policy was implemented to stop land subsidence on the coast of Jakarta due to groundwater extraction.

Deputy Chairman of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rasyidi, assessed that this problem was a serious challenge for the Jakarta Provincial Government.
