Rayapetta: There has been a demand to find a suitable solution to the traffic congestion and risk of accidents caused by vehicles encroaching on Dr. Besant Road, Rayapetta.
Dr. Besant Road, Rayapetta is used by thousands of people every day. A large number of shops and businesses are operating on this road dealing with food, snacks, fruit, clothing, tea, home appliances etc.
The owners of shops and business establishments here, most of the customers coming there, occupy this road and park their two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
Also, they encroach and park vehicles on the footpaths set up for pedestrians.
Due to this, all the motorists including the bus drivers passing through this road are suffering a lot. As a result, there is heavy traffic jam and risk of accidents in this area.
Social activists said:
The traffic problem on this road has been there for many years. Government buses are crawling here due to parked vehicles encroaching on the road.
It is very difficult for emergency service vehicles including ambulances to cross this road. Due to this encroachment problem, minor accidents are occurring frequently.
However, no major action has been taken so far. In this matter, concerned authorities including the Corporation, Traffic Police should find appropriate solution.
