Dr. Bob, the doctor that the jungle campers trust and the doctor who has already turned the heads of many a candidate. But for him there is only one: his Annie.
He belongs to the jungle camp like a kangaroo’s testicles belong to a test: Robert McCarron, aka Dr. Bob, has been there since the first season of “I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!” He looks after the jungle inhabitants, supports them during the tests, and takes care of them when something hurts.
Some candidates were already weak. In 2021, for example, Lydia Kelovitz tried her luck with the jungle doctor, six years earlier Tanja Tischewitsch flirted with him. But she had no chance. Because Dr. Bob is taken – and has been for more than 20 years.
In the early 2000s, Robert McCarron fell in love with Annette Miles, whom he affectionately calls “Annie”. The two met when Dr. Bob was still working as a make-up specialist and his wife as a wig maker. In 2013, they sealed their love by saying “I do.”
“He is very romantic, sensitive, considerate,” Annie once enthused in an interview with RTL. “I get great cards and presents for my birthday. He is thoughtful.” Dr. Bob added in the conversation: “We are yin and yang. We fit together.” When he comes home from work, he is often stressed, but she manages to calm him down.
The 74-year-old also appears on Instagram with his wife from time to time. At the beginning of the year, for example, Dr. Bob posted a video of himself and Annie dancing tango together. He wrote: “We are still beginners, but we love every moment together.”
A few weeks ago, he published a photo of them together from South Africa on the social media platform. “I’m a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” was filmed there in June. The snapshot also shows presenter Sonja Zietlow with her husband Jens Oliver Haas. The couple is sitting in the last row, Dr. Bob and his Annie in the first.
Annette Miles is not his first wife, by the way. Dr. Bob has been married before. The TV doctor has two children with her. When asked about the most important people in his life, Dr. Bob once said: “My children Kate and Jae, who I adopted with my first wife because we unfortunately couldn’t have children, and of course my current wife Annie.”
Dr. Bob has been in front of the camera for the jungle camp since the first season. He can currently be seen in the special broadcast to mark the show’s 20th anniversary. The format, like the original, is hosted by Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen.
