Dr. Manoon Leechawengwong, a physician specializing in respiratory system diseases at Vichaiyut Hospital, revealed concerning epidemiological data in December 2023. But unfortunately, he himself has now been found sick with COVID-19.

On January 8, 2024, Dr. Manoon took to Facebook to share his findings, indicating that the spread of COVID-19, influenza, dengue fever, and norovirus remains high. In his post, he urged the public to continue wearing face masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing their hands to reduce the transmission and exposure to all types of respiratory virus germs.

The December 2023 data from Vichaiyut Hospital showed that 606 people were infected with the COVID-19 virus, with the number continuing to increase. Influenza virus cases decreased but were still high at 208, while cases of human metapneumovirus (hMPV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) also decreased.

Additionally, there were 44 cases of dengue fever and 2 cases of chikungunya reported. Norovirus cases increased to 41, with no cases of rotavirus found.

Dr. Manoon emphasized the importance of taking precautions, stating, “During this time, people are sick with COVID-19, and there’s still a lot of influenza. We ask that everyone should still wear a mask, keep distance, and wash their hands frequently.”

He warned that the COVID-19 virus is on the rise, outpacing the influenza virus, and stressed the need for continued vigilance in preventing the spread of these viruses.

“January 2024 Situation of the COVID-19 virus, influenza, and other viruses. What will it be like? Follow next month’s report,” Dr. Manoon concluded, leaving the public eagerly awaiting his next update.]
