Dr. Strange in the Dimensions of Madness: Movie Review without Spoilers

by time news

One of the most enjoyable things for any Marvel movie universe fan is the end of the wait. This moment you sit down at the cinema and get to see a movie you’ve been waiting for months, maybe even years. ‘Dr. Strange’ in the Dimensions of Madness’ is completely such a film, and Marvel knew how to take the opportunity in their hands to present us not one powerful sorcerer, but two, with Dr. Strange joining in the lead role as the other witch.

But first it should be noted – Marvel came up with a method: why settle for a superhero for one, if you can push more? This method is not new to the MCU, it has been happening in almost every movie since “Captain America and the Winter Soldier” from 2013, but in recent years it has been gaining more and more momentum. Some will say it adds, some will say it detracts, personally I believe it depends on the film. And when we talk about ‘Dr. Strange’ in the dimensions of insanity, the method is completely detrimental.

I’ll jump to the end – this is a good movie. Good plot, great effects, great twists and even the villain character (without getting into spoilers) is very impressive. So what is there to dislike then? The simple and inevitable fact – the character after whom the film is named is simply superfluous.

I will explain: take Dr. Steven Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch who is really wonderful), take him out of the movie, the product will remain the same product. And when he is the leading character, this is a serious problem. Olsen), and he would have looked the same. For the two main characters joins the character of America Chavez (Sochi Gomez, MCU premiere), who holds a powerful force that makes evil woods in the universe chase her. Also return from the first film – d Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), Karl Mordo (Chivatl Ajipur) Wong (Benedict Wong)

Another bad point for the film is the blatant lack of continuity to the world created at Marvel. Dr. Strange was a relatively central character in the movie “Spider-Man – There’s No Way Home,” but his actions there have zero meaning to the current film, except for a rather unnecessary half-joke.

So why is it worth watching the movie? Because it is a tremendous viewing experience, especially for those who will be able to go to the IMAX screening. The film will indeed have future implications for the MCU project (almost like any movie / series in this huge universe), and that it is truly “Marvel’s first horror film,” as it has been marketed for months. However, I would like to point out that anyone planning to see the film must first complete the “Wanda-Vision” and “What if” series, both from the world of Marvel, which contain preliminary information about the film and will help you understand it.

Sam Raimi (who directed the entire Spider-Man trilogy in the early 2000s) took over the directing craft and turned ‘Dr. Strange’ into the dimensions of madness’ into a two-hour celebration, where even in the lighter moments when the audience can rest, we gain important information about the past, present And the future of the characters at Marvel.

The MCU, as we have been accustomed to for years, does not disappoint and gives fans once again new characters, which will surprise many even among the close fans of the genre who do not miss an opportunity to analyze each frame in the various trailers that came out (including writing these lines). But as always, these surprises also carry unexpected things and moves that will leave you with a taste of more when you leave the cinema.

For those who are wondering – the film has two scenes after it ends. One in the middle of the credits and one at the end, worth staying for both.

In conclusion – Marvel once again managed to bring a good final product to the screen, but this time they messed up a bit along the way. This does not mean that it is not worth watching the film, but only to adjust the expectations to it – whoever expected the film to focus on the character of Strange and his dealings with the consequences of previous films is likely to be disappointed. Those who come with the intention of enjoying a two-hour cinematic experience – will enjoy accordingly.
