Interim government chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is expected to address the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 27. There, he will present the context of the anti-discrimination student movement in the country in July-August and the heroism of the student uprising and present the reform program undertaken by the interim government to repair the state after the political change.
Sheikh Hasina resigned and went to India on August 5 in the face of intense student movement. Nobel laureate Dr. When Muhammad Yunus was offered the position of chief adviser to the interim government, he accepted it. He took over on August 8.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus is going on a foreign tour for the first time as the head of government.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that the Chief Adviser’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly session will highlight the heroism of the August 5 coup of Bangladesh students. The Chief Adviser’s speech will reflect on how the students stood up against fascism at the cost of their lives to create a successful revolution and sow seeds of new dreams among people.
In addition, in the new journey of Bangladesh’s second victory, democratic values and good governance and to build an economically prosperous Bangladesh, the reform programs undertaken by the interim government in other areas including the election system. Shafiqul Alam said that they will be highlighted in the speech of Yunus.
Professor Yunus will try to present to the world the philosophy of the people and government of Bangladesh in the changed situation after the end of Sheikh Hasina’s dictatorial rule. The Chief Advisor will tell the international community how Bangladesh will present itself in the world as a proud and prestigious country.
Shafiqul Alam said, referring to the hopes and aspirations of the students and people of the country for the future of Bangladesh, he will rise above geopolitics and call the international community to join with Bangladesh.
On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session held in New York, USA, the Chief Advisor is scheduled to have a courtesy meeting with the top leaders of several countries. Besides, he will also participate in some other side events.
