(24News) Dr. Yunus, nominated head of the interim government in Bangladesh, arrived in Dhaka and was overwhelmed by the reception.
When Nobel laureate Dr. Mohammad Yunus, nominated head of the transitional government formed after the Bangladesh revolution, arrived in Dhaka, he was overwhelmed by the media throng and expressed his appreciation for the students’ role in the country’s liberation. He emphasized the need for peace and stability.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus Kamzaid, founder of Grameen Bank and renowned as the “banker of the poor,” stressed the importance of protecting the newfound freedom in Bangladesh.
He also alluded to the attacks faced by minorities under the previous regime and expressed confidence in the youth to lead the country out of its financial challenges.
It is worth noting that the former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina Wajid, resigned under pressure from student protests and fled to India. In response, the protesting students demanded the appointment of a Nobel laureate as the interim government’s head. The interim government will consist of 15 members, but its composition has not been finalized.
