It has been said that the Advisory Council-Meeting approved the draft of ‘National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024’ with the aim of realizing the importance of genetic resources in meeting the needs of current and future generations, proper conservation and sustainable use of food security, dealing with risks arising from climate change, sustainable economic and social development and meeting the needs of future generations. is presented for
The notification further states that a committee consisting of the Advisory Ministry of Agriculture and the Advisory Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Resources has been formed by convening the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change to test and update the draft of ‘National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024’. The Ministry of Science and Technology will provide secretarial support to the committee. The committee will finalize an updated and revised draft of the policy in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
The revised ‘National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024’ will be forwarded by the committee to the Cabinet Division for presentation in the meeting of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship.
Besides, the Advisory Council adopted a formal congratulatory resolution for Bangladesh national cricket team’s 2-0 victory over hosts Pakistan in the two-match Test series, which will be issued through a gazette notification, the press release said.
