Sunday’s matchup will be the 65th meeting between Drexel and Northeastern. The series began on January 24, 1992, with Northeastern taking an early 11-1 lead, Drexel’s reporting shows. Since then, Drexel has largely controlled the series, holding a 32-20 record.

Recent Matchup

Drexel previously defeated Northeastern 53-47 in Boston, Mass., on Friday afternoon, improving to 10-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play, according to the university. Amaris Baker led the team with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.

Dance Evans added 12 points and five rebounds, while Cara McCormack and Laine McGurk each scored 10 points. It marked the first time this season that four Drexel players scored in double figures, a feat last achieved during the CAA Tournament game against Monmouth on March 15, 2024.

Looking Ahead

Following Sunday’s game, Drexel returns home to the DAC on February 6 to begin a weekend home stand. The Dragons will face the Hampton Pirates on Friday at 6 p.m. and the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloCollege.

Why It Matters

Drexel’s recent success against both Monmouth and Northeastern demonstrates the team’s growing strength within the CAA. The Dragons’ ability to secure close victories, as evidenced by the Monmouth game, highlights their resilience and composure under pressure. Maintaining a winning record against conference rivals like Northeastern is crucial for Drexel’s positioning as the regular season progresses and the team aims for a strong showing in the upcoming CAA Tournament. The upcoming home stand provides an opportunity for Drexel to build momentum and solidify its place among the conference’s top contenders.
