The drains that exist between the 43 entrances and exits of the Expressway of the Paseo de la República are free and able to function, in the event of torrential rains that occur in the next few hours.

During night work, the Municipality of Lima carries out cleaning and maintenance tasks on the drains, which are intended to mitigate the impact of rain and prevent water from pooling on the roadway of the busy Vía Expresa del Paseo de la República.

Engineer Julio Silva, from the Emape Maintenance area, of the Municipality of Lima, indicated that by order of the metropolitan mayor Rafael López Aliaga, the drains were cleaned immediately.

He indicated that after cleaning, foreign elements could be located in the drains, bags and other accumulated elements. These works will be completed shortly.

He also reported that the task of clearing the “islands” that form on the bridges of the Rímac River, such as the Balta, continues. Likewise, clearing works continue in the Huaycoloro ravine. Especially on the Huaycoloro bridge and on the Ramiro Prialé twins.
