There are dramatic images that reach the NÖN early Monday afternoon: A large area of the Waldland company is in full fire. According to initial information, 16 fire brigades have now been alerted and the alert level has been raised to the highest (B4).
160 firefighters on duty
A fire in a production hall in Zwettl called for the deployment of 160 firefighters on Monday afternoon. According to Franz Resperger from the Lower Austria regional command, the property partially collapsed. There were no injuries. The extinguishing work was expected to last into the evening hours.
The flames broke out in the company in Oberwaltenreith around 1 p.m. “There were emergency calls every second,” reported Resperger. When the helpers arrived, the hall was in full fire. “An internal attack was no longer possible,” emphasized the spokesman.
There were 15 fire brigades on the spot, and several respiratory protection teams were called in. A turntable ladder and a lifting platform were also used. Neighboring buildings were not endangered due to the relatively isolated location of the production hall.
