BCCI has given a bonus of Rs 125 crore to the Indian team for winning the T20 World Cup. Which will be available to the players as well as the supporting staff and all members of the tour.

The players received Rs 5 crore each. Also head coach Rahul Dravid was given 5 crore rupees. But the rest of the supporting staff like bowling coach Paras Mambre, fielding coach T Dilip and batting coach Vikram Ratho’s sister got Rs 2.5 crore. Dravid did not like this. An additional Rs 2.5 crore was paid to Dravid as head coach. Feeling unfair, Dravid returned the additional Rs 2.5 crore to the BCCI.

Hindustan Times confirmed this news in a report. A BCCI official told Hindustan Times, ‘Rahul has asked for a bonus like other supporting staff. He returned Rs.2.5 crore. We value his opinion.’

Apart from the players and coaching staff, two selectors were with the team. They got a bonus of Rs 1 crore each. On July 4, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah and President Roger Binny handed over the bonus awards to the players after the Victory Parade in Mumbai.

This is not the first time Dravid has done something like this. The former captain of India made the youth team champion in 2018. He refused to take a large amount of service bonus. The BCCI had planned to give him a bonus of Rs 50 lakh. 20 lakhs for other supporting staff and Rs.30 lakhs for players. Dravid proposed to distribute the bonus money proportionately among all. All the coaching staff including Dravid get a bonus of 25 lakh rupees.

Dravid quit the national team after winning the T20 World Cup. He had already announced that this would be his last assignment. BCCI appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new coach in his place.
