Former India batsman VVS Laxman has praised India’s young wicketkeeper batsman Sreekar Bharath. Bharath got the chance after Wriddhiman Saha injured his neck. On the third day of the match, Bharath was behind the wicket.
Bharath used the opportunity well. Bharath has three wickets for New Zealand. The stumping of the dangerous Kiwis opener Tom Latham was notable. Laxman told Star Sports that Bharat, who came on as a replacement, kept the faith of the selectors. Laxman recalled what Rahul Dravid had said earlier about the new wicket-keeper.
“I still remember Rahul Dravid saying earlier about KS Bharat’s wicket-keeping prowess. Only Wriddhiman Saha is currently the best keeper in Indian cricket than Bharath.
Saha was considered for the team after Rishabh allowed the ball to rest. The 37-year-old is still being criticized for being the first to be considered. Criticism intensified when Saha was dismissed for just one run in the first innings. Saha, however, scored 61 in the second innings to silence the critics.
Meanwhile, the Kanpur Test was won by India. New Zealand made a mammoth comeback as India were bowled out for 284. India declared at 234 for seven in the second innings. In reply, New Zealand lost one wicket. They have four runs on their account. Ravichandran Ashwin took the wicket.
